Our Vision for 2020

Happy New Year!

With the dawning of a new year, comes the inevitable trend spotting articles - and whilst there’s literally dozens of these for wedding style, we thought we’d take a look at what we think the big trends in Hen Parties will be - check back in a year to see how we fared!

Firstly, we’re noticing a huge shift towards sustainability, as is the rest of the world! We’ve had our eye on this for a while, selling paper straws and recyclable table ware, whilst introducing our own design of sturdy plastic cup which can be reused again and again and again - we should know, we use them in the office, and they’re standing up to repeated uses brilliantly!

Our aim has always been to provide an alternative to the tacky throwaway hen party accessories of recent times - however well it’s made, we can’t imagine anyone getting much use of a set of phallic head boppers once the hungover has subsided. Our enamel pins are designed to be worn and treasured, and our exclusive range of t-shirts and sweaters are lovely enough to be worn from engagement to hen party to wedding and beyond.

We’ve also honed our Proposal gift range to not only be full of beautiful gifts, but useful ones too. Pens that actually work and don’t run out after a few days, lovely notebooks that can be recycled once they’re done with and chocolate that can be…well, I’m sure you can find a use for it!

Of course, it’s not only a new year, but a new decade - and it’s already been dubbed the second Roaring Twenties. The 1920s are known for the explosion of glamour that resulted from the ending of the First World War, and we foresee a lot of Great Gatsby themed Hen Parties. We’ve been scouring the web for inspiration for a decor and theming if throwing a flapper themed Hen is your idea of a great time doll face, check out our Pinterest board for ideas. Our personalised cocktail stirrers come in a gorgeous gold mirror that would complement an elegant black and gold theme beautifully, as well as providing a touch of sophistication for your soiree.

A growing awareness of just how much time we spend on our phones is leading to more and more people trying to detox their digital lives - and we think this could spread in to Hen Parties, especially weekends away. Phone free weddings have been increasing in popularity over the last couple of years with couples asking their guests to make sure they’re present in the moment and not rushing to capture every last detail for the ‘gram. Encouraging a screen amnesty for even part of your weekend away is a great way to make sure everyone is able to connect with each other, and who knows, people may be more inclined to relax a bit more and let their hair down if they know there’s no risk of their potentially embarrassing antics being shared across social media! We’ve got a range of games for some analogue fun, from our ‘clean’ versions of Charades and Pictionary, to the brutal Horrible Hens - which is definitely not a game you want to risk being live streamed for your family to see!

The final trend we think (and hope!) will take off in 2020 is for Hen Parties to become a bit more like mini retreats. You don’t need to go to a fancy spa hotel to have a super relaxing weekend, and if we’re being honest, we’d all find a cosy country cottage a bit more relaxing than a spa (is it just us, or is there something a bit weird about everyone eating lunch in their dressing gowns?!). Find a quiet cottage somewhere, bring your favourite DVDs with you, and commit to a weekend of doing nothing but making sure everyone is pampered. Kit yourselves out with eyemasks to ensure you sleep well, super soft t-shirts to make sure everyone is comfy, and get your hair in a top knot with our pull free hair ties. You’ll come away from the weekend feeling refreshed, and ready to face the wedding, rather than slightly green around the gills, and in need of another weekend away to recuperate.

So, we’d love to know what you think? Have we missed any major trends? Are any of our predictions likely to be flops? Do you even consider trends when planning a Hen Weekend? Let us know!
