6 Hen Party Themes The 2022 Bride Will Love

If a hen party theme is on the agenda, here’s six options Team Hen thinks you need to consider.
When it comes to planning the hen party there are, naturally, a multitude of decisions to make. You’ll probably start off with: ‘where to have it?’ And, ‘who to invite?’ And then, after scribbling down multiple options and freaking out a bit, land in a state of ‘do we have a theme?’ And, if so, ‘what theme?’ For many, the idea of a hen party theme might leave them slightly panicked, if not a little sweaty, but for others, it’s not a hen party without a hen party theme. End of.
When it comes to planning a hen party with a theme, the first question you need to ask yourself is what kind of theme the bride will love. This isn’t (unfortunately) the time to indulge your love for David Attenborough and insist everyone arrives dressed as David Attenborough, binoculars in tow. It IS the time to embrace whatever TV show, film, book, era or unusual love that your bride does have however. Think about what she likes. If she binge-watched Bridgerton in a mere three days for instance or jet sets off to Coachella every year, you’ll know what your answer is...
If you follow Team Hen on Instagram, you’ll know we recently asked our audience what kind of themes they’d love to plan a hen party around this 2022 - and they came up with some truly epic suggestions which we’ve thrown into the mix...

#1 Bridgerton

Get all your gals and guys to dress up in fancy threads for a truly sumptuous hen party affair this 2022. You’ll want to dress your venue in rich, elegant throws and furniture, not to mention an array of truly decadent details. Lay your table with cakes stands of delicious treats, your best silverware and champagne, and let the dinner party begin!

#2 Mamma Mia!

For the bride who’s been watching Mamma Mia! on repeat since it landed on cinema screens back in 2008, and can’t get enough of musicals, gather up your girls for a truly sumptuous, ABBA-infused hen party. With a sing-along soundtrack of ABBA hits at the ready, your best 70s-inspired flares and some custom cocktails, you’ll knock your bride-to-be’s platforms off in a second.

Friends Tie Dye Notebook, £4, Matalan

#3 Friends

For the die-hard Friends fan, nothing could beat a Friends-style hen party this 2022 and beyond. Pick your favourite character (we’re torn between Ross and Phoebe), channel their cool 90s style (anyone for a sweater vest?) and reenact some of your favourite scenes with your besties. We’re thinking: the opening credits with the sofa, the time Joey gets his head stuck in a turkey, the ‘floating heads’, the works! Snacks-wise, you’ll definitely want to order a pizza (don’t forget the vegetarian for Phoebe), grab some beers and maybe even have a snow cone station!

#4 90s Vibe

Maybe your bestie just loves the 90s and a 90s-theme hen party will totally float her boat. For the dress code, the current revival of 90s-inspired threads will lend itself super well to your hen party theme. Dish out the dungarees, the slinky slip dresses, cool chokers, tie-up cardigans, sliders and bike shorts and get ready to party. We’d also suggest laying on a 90s buffet, throwing on some Doc Martens and maybe finding a Tamagotchi or a yo-yo for the favours.

Peonie Jacquard Stripe Trouser Set, £32, Night Store

#5 PJs Slumber Party

For the more laid-back, relaxed bride who doesn’t want to go OTT on the hen, a PJs slumber party might be right up her street. Picture a chilled night-in with your besties, matching PJs are a must, as are a few select luxury pamper items for the bride and the bride-tribe (we’re thinking bath salts, sleep masks, Team Hen’s delicious luxury Sparkling Rosé and Pomelo scented candles - the works) and a host of her favourite films, drinks and snacks! Plus, as an extra treat you could also book a mobile nail technician to come and attend to all your dainty digits!

#6 Festival

For some brides, nothing beats that wild festival vibe. Why not plan the entire hen celebration around her favourite festival and book tickets, or organise your very own hen party festival at home? Go all out with the Glamping vibe, and erect that ‘gram-worthy boho tent in your backyard, before attending to all those other must-have festival details. We’re talking custom bunting, a hammock (or two), the bar with custom cocktails and her favourite beverages, a glitter station - you name it.
