Organising A Hen Party in Brighton

So, you got the job as your bestie’s hen party planner! (Round of applause please!) And, before you ask, no, we don’t think it’s appropriate to include this on your LinkedIn Profile under skills. But, what comes next is the hard bit: actually planning the hen. Juggling dietary requirements, opinions, theme ideas - you name it, you’re going to have to manage it. But top of the list? LOCATION. Luckily for you, Team Hen have a UK suggestion that’ll knock your bride’s socks off (and her Manolos too). The answer? Brighton! Yep, the South Coast is calling!

Often referred to as 'London by the sea', this dashing, cosmopolitan seaside resort is awash with hen party-ready activities, destinations and Instagram-worthy cocktail pit-stops. And, not only that, it’s got a cool, relaxed vibe that every bride and her tribe will love. Team Hen managed to lock in some downtime and spend a couple of days at this literally buzzing seaside destination and, while we were there, gather some ideas for the ultimate hen party in Brighton. And admittedly, yes, we even trialled some cocktails and beachside snacks (all in the name of work/hen party research of course…)

WHERE TO STAY

We’d definitely opt for staying beachside and, with that in mind, there’s luckily a whole line up of hotels that occupy the front in Brighton. From Hilton Brighton Metropole (where we stayed) to The Grand Brighton (which was right next door). Location-wise, it means that you’re mere steps from the beach and the haul of buzzing bars, restaurants and shops that pepper the promenade (not to mention the iconic Brighton Pier). What’s not to love!

WHERE TO EAT

No one likes a hangry bride tribe, and luckily Brighton is packed full with a multitude of different eateries. Whether it’s a takeaway slice of pizza you’re craving or a three course sit down meal with cocktails, the UK resort offers up it all. For lunch we rocked up at beachside breakfast and lunch place, Lazy Fin (163 Kings Road Arches) for their Steamed Mussels (er…yum) and coveted Fresh Watermelon Juice. For dinner, we’d recommend exploring Brighton’s iconic The Lanes and, most importantly, booking ahead (especially for large parties) as everything gets booked up FAST. If you’re looking for somewhere on the front however, we have it on good authority from For The Love Of Pearl’s founder, Sadaf that the The Salt Room is a must (and it’s also literally right outside The Hilton Metropole).

SHOPPING

If your gal’s a bit of a shopaholic, BOY will she love Brighton. As well as playing host to the usual high street culprits (Beyond Retro, Oliver Bonas, AllSaints etc.) Brighton is famous for The Lanes which welcome a treasure trove of unique boutiques, beautiful stores and a multitude of jewellers. Alongside this, as visitbrighton.com suggests, there’s Brighton’s Open Market to explore too, plus an array of beachside stores on the front.

ACTIVITIES

If an activity-filled hen party weekend is calling, then Brighton’s got your back. Get paddle boarding or hire a Kayak and get some tuition for the group. Or check out Yellowwave Beachsports and hire a Volleyball court (we may not have taken part in any actual physical activity here, but can assure you that the cafe’s Vanilla milkshake is the stuff of dreams). If you’re planning something a little more chilled and laidback, The Lanes are calling! Packed with cute boutiques, bars and cocktail pit-stops, you and your crew will want to spend hours wandering around this idyllic, creative spot. Plus, Brighton Pier is also a must. Candy floss? Check. Doughnuts? Tick. Fairground rides? Hello! We feel a photo opportunity coming on! And, of course, if you’re after a view - check out the British Airways i360 Viewing Tower. Tip: Want to get organised and book a couple of activities ahead? Check out cocktail masterclasses and Escape Rooms!

FESTIVALS & EVENTS

It’s also worth checking out visitbrighton.com before you pick a weekend, as there’s multiple festivals booked in on Brighton’s events calendar, from Brighton Fringe to a whole host of music gigs and events.

Happy planning!
