How to plan a balloon display for a hen
Hen party balloons create the biggest visual impact for the effort, but a little planning makes the difference between a striking display and a few lonely balloons floating about.
Pick the layout first
- Statement wall: a word or phrase as the centrepiece, with smaller balloons clustered around the base.
- Ceiling scatter: great for big rooms, letting balloons drift above the party.
- Table clusters: small groups of three or five at each end of a dining or buffet table.
Mixing sizes and finishes adds depth. Group balloons in odd numbers, place larger ones at the back and let smaller ones fill the gaps. Stick to two or three colours to keep it looking polished.
Practical tips
Inflate on the day where possible, as helium-filled balloons are best enjoyed fresh. If you're decorating a rented property, ask about air-con and fans, which can push balloons around. Bring a hand pump for air-filled balloons, plus ribbon, tape and scissors.
