TEAM GLAM | GUEST POST Q&A

If you’re on the fence about booking a hair and makeup artist for the big day, our latest guest post with the rather showstopping Team Glam will nip any such indecision in the bud!
From our own experience, we’ve got no doubt in our minds that having an expert by your side on the morning of your wedding is a must (cos’ your hands will be either too shaky with excitement to attempt an intricate updo with dramatic curl flourish or they’ll be busy clutching an ice cold flute of champagne). Plus, there’s nothing like a bit of pampering pre-wedding, and if ever there’s a day you deserve to feel special - it’s your wedding day.
Meet Team Glam, a bespoke luxury bridal service specialising in hair, makeup and - in a nut shell - the art of bringing high-voltage GLAM to your look, be it for your hen party, wedding or celebratory event. With their holistic approach and serious styling skills, this is a team of experts that’ll leave you feeling like a million dollars in a heartbeat. Led by founders, Carla and Tara, they’ve worked with the likes of Dior, Berta Bridal, Suzanne Neville, Jo Malone and Savin London (to name only a few) and have a wealth of experience when it comes to getting brides ready for their big day…

#1 Tell us a little bit about yourself (we want to know it all - career background, star sign, business name and role - you name it)…

“We are Carla Brooks and Tara Cox, the founders of Team Glam. We started the business in 2015 as we wanted to create a collective of professional hair and makeup artists that could be trusted to set the bar within the industry…. We have worked alongside bridal designers to create their looks for campaign shoots, prime minsters and royalty to name a few. Tara was my first ever boss working for a financial services company in 2001. We always got along well as I was training in makeup and she had a background in hairdressing before going into financial services, that was our common interest that started off a lifelong friendship which ultimately turned into a business. We’ve both had a lot of experience working for and alongside big corporate companies.”

#2 What does your brand/boutique offer brides?

“Professional Hair and Makeup services at any location worldwide.”

#3 Hit us with your USP:

We do exactly what we say on the tin! It really is that simple…”

#4 What’s a normal business day include? Is it 9-5? Or more like 6am to pull your hair out/early hours?

“Business Day, good question. We have the world's most amazing assistant called Camilla who answers all of our inquiries and does all of our invoices etc. We are constantly meeting new brides and running through trials for their weddings, managing social media, accounting, marketing and making new connections in the industry. As small business owners, we wear a lot of hats to ensure everyone and everything is exactly as it should be! We’re not very routine in our approach to work…”

#5 Three top tips for brides with regards to your expertise…GO!

  1. “Makeup is only as good as the skin it sits on, so make sure you look after your skin with a good regime and healthy eating.”
  1. “Wash your hair on the morning of your wedding, you want to feel your best and for all these stylists saying it's better when it's ‘a day old’…we have no words!”
  1. “Make sure you really have an open and honest conversation with your hair and makeup artists, we take a holistic approach to hair and makeup and it's really about how you feel when you look your best. Only you know what that feels like so don’t be overruled by any of your bridal party.”

#6 If you could collaborate with another vendor or brand, who would it be and why?

“It would be Carolina Herrera, as she has both a wedding line and also a makeup line - it’s the perfect combination for us. Her style is so effortlessly chic and always classy and elegant.”

#7 What’s new at your brand? Got anything exciting in the pipeline?

“We recently started a line of accessories called Estará Studio which are just beautiful. We’re currently in the process of branding them and planning the shoot for the website. We’ve been providing bespoke accessories to our brides for a long time but have finally decided to create a separate brand and we’re currently in the process of working out what we want that to look and feel like for our brides.”

#8 Where should brides be looking for heart-stopping wedding inspo?

“We’re huge fans of Instagram, we follow so many people all over the world. Blogs are also great, Grace Ormond, Style Me Pretty and Love My Dress are still some of our all-time favourites.”
